 What makes one Shock Tower Brace better than others?

By centering the mounting locations of both the export brace and the Monte Carlo bar right where the stress point is (the shock tower), you minimize any flex from the car. The stock system and others utilize the fender apron which flexes under hard cornering. You can also get flex from the mounting point at the firewall. So we've designed a new firewall support system to add even more support for high performance driving.

Are stamped ones better than the ones that use rod ends?

Yes, much better! Why? The rod end versions only hold the shock towers on the horizontal plane. In other words, they hold everything apart. However if you hit a bump on one side, the rod ends allow movement. This means they do not hold the relationship of the shock towers on the vertical plane. Ours does and this improvement increases the performance and stability of your car.

However throttle body injections systems that simply replace the carburetor and do not have the large mid 80s style plenum will work fine.

* Plain means no finish treatment what so ever, straight off the mill.  We run the cutter slow on the final pass so there is no visible tool marks but there is tiny, tiny marks, squiggles, very, very fine scratches and very fine swirl marks from the tools etc.  This is from the clamping, handling processes etc. during machining. Bead blasting with a fine glass media in the blasting cabinet will eliminate the marks but it does change the surface texture and the way the aluminum reflects the light.  Glass bead gives the finish a satin look (see picture below). You'll still be able to anodize, polish, clear coat or powder coat the bead finished parts, or use them as they are.  You should be aware that raw aluminum will take regular maintenance to look good if no coating is applied (like aluminum wheels with no finish).
