KRC Pump Kit

A factory power steering pump will work with our Power Rack and Pinion but for the best performance possible we recommend the KRC-20000 Pump Kit.

The complete power steering system has been designed around specific fluid volumes, flow rates and pressure requirements to deliver a tight, responsive feel with adequate steering feedback for high performance driving applications. This balance of informative feedback and hydraulic assist is not possible with any combination of OEM pumps or steering units due to excessive and widely varying flow rates.

Our aluminum body power steering pump offers consistent output throughout the entire RPM range unlike OEM pumps whose output increases with RPM’s. Steering sensitivity can easily be varied at the pump (within the required range) by means of a changeable output fitting.
OEM pump flow rates typically exceed the maximum range by 25-50%. On OEM pumps efforts to restrict flow generally results in excessive heat and eventual pump failure.

Hose kits are included with the power steering pump kit but can also be purchased separately. Field-attachable steel hose ends are installed on bulk lengths of flexible high-pressure hydraulic hose with common tools. These ends connect our power rack-and-pinion, power steering pump, and reservoir. Hose assembly lengths can be custom fit by the installer to accommodate various routing requirements. Blue-fiber covered hose is standard with stainless Teflon™ racing hose available as an upgrade.
